I have a pioneer receiver that supports Dolby Digital Plus and I know that it works because Netflix passes it through correctly. However when I play something through MrMC the audio ends up as stereo. Standard DD & DTS passthrough work fine.
Any suggestions or additional information I can provide?

The FireTV1/2 cannot passthrough HD audio like DD+ (eac3) because MrMC needs an audio sample rate of 192KHz. 96KHz is the highest audio sample rate it supports. How Netflix does it is unknown.
If you set (in MrMC) to 5.1 or 7.1 (depending on your amp), MrMC will send the HD audio as multichannel PCM.
