MrMc vs Infuse - picture quality

Post by Hufvudet »

This has probably been discussed many times but I bring it up again since both apps now have really good Plex integration.

Is upscaling etc. better with MrMc?

I suspect they are similar right now but once we bring in the advanced upscalers, MrMC will be much better.

 Will focus be on chroma upscaling which is important even when luminance upscaling isn't critical or needed?

Great! When will you bring in the advanced upscalers?! Btw, I did some comparison and Infuse is crushing blacks badly. So it’s already a non contest.

for droid, yes. shaders need work for iOS/tvOS. They depend on EGLImage which is not present under iOS/tvOS.

Don't mean to bug you @davilla but any update on this? The current upscaling on the ATV4k is just not as good as my TVs upscaler so I'm looking forward to a good upscaling algorithm. Even infuse doesn't support this yet :)

Test builds for Shield with high quality scalers are available.

Just follow along in the testflight thread to see the progress. Or ask to get the test builds yourself.
