I have the apple tv in sdr all the time now.

Hmm
Just did a test betet with netflix and it points out to the TV.
Not sure why looking at the sertings but in 4k HDR everything looks more over bright

I switched cables made no difference. This is very strange indeed but its not just MRMC like I though you just see it there the most.
Not sure if ist just cause the HDR is not calibrated or what but SDR just looks damn much beter Blacks are black , instead of litle faded gray.

After playing around alot with all kinds of brightness settings my recomendation are.
Leave TV in default SDR 4k mode, gui all looks beter( probly cause its designed for that mode )
Make Apple tv switch to HDR and Res, and also mr MC, this seams to work nice.
Movies that are HDR switch TV to HDR and looks awesome, others like fine ( witch are not HDR ) and the tv does not switch.
