no, there is no way to exclude the subfolder

EDIT: I stand corrected

adding below to advancedsettings.xml might work

just edit <regexp></regexp> to exclude folder you dont want

I'm using a program which synchronizes folders between to disks. It puts a folder named _gsdata_ at the top level of the folder it synchronizes (on both disks).
