MrMC and ATV airplay receiver

Pulling up a thread from a few months ago.

Is there any chance that audio keeps playing when opening MrMC on IOS/TVOS? With airplay 2 around the corner, my airplay use will further increase. I like the idea of listening to the music all the way until I start music or video within MrMC. I already disabled audio clicks in GUI. So, I can play music within MrMC. Only missing piece is the opening process of MrMC where audio still stops.

Not at this time, when MrMC comes up, it always opens an audio sink. This would take some core refactoring. It's possible we could come up shared, then go exclusive on playback. Deep into focus engine refactor right now.

As a possible work around, would it be feasible to use the "Kodi Remote" app on a mobile device? You can scroll through your library menus independently of what's on screen so that way airplay is not interrupted until you click the media item in the Kodi Remote app which will then take precedence on screen like you want.

This would work, but not what i’m looking for.

i’m looking to look at all the beauty of mrmc gui, while not stopping music play over airplay.

the proposed feature above (ho shared when open and exclusive while playing would be great). and maybe again shared after the movie ends. in the world of airplay 2 (audio in various rooms), such feature will become more and more interesting.

With the new release out and Airplay 2 released, any chance to look into this? I checked with Infuse and it does not suffer the same issue (I can open Infuse and airplay keeps playing). Maybe a chance to borrow some code?

nothing to borrow ... their source is closed and they do not share anything

Mmh, that's a pity... Hope you may still find a way to keep airplay audio playing when MrMC is opening on ATV.
