How to get the SMB issue solved...

Post by Schoey1990 » 14 Aug 2018, 17:37

Hey guys.

I am new to MrMc but have been using kodi in the past. Upgraded from Android to ATV.

I am having an issue which I cannot solve, even though this has been discussed on the forums.

I have a Windows 10 PC with 2 additional drives which I store all my content on.

Now MrMc cannot connect via SMB, i get the Error 2 code.

I have enabled libdsm, i have enable SMB 1 On my PC. I have tried adding the network source manually with no luck. I get as far as seeing the PC when selecting Browse in the add a network location. And then I get a login authorisation error code 6.

The username and password is correct when adding manual and when selecting through the browse menu it does not ask for a username and password.

Is there a fix or a way around this?

Im using MrMc Lite to test it out before purchasing the app, but it seems like im wasting my time...

Are those SMB shared drives external and USB connected (with or without USB hub) or internal drives ?

For win10, you need to use libsmb2 instead of libdsm. With libsmb2, it needs to have user/pass AND share point. So use add network location where all these can be entered.

As far as I can remember, libsmb2 was added to MrMc in TF 3.7.0 and not before.

I too had SMB problems ONLY with SMB shared external USB drives before TF 3.7.0 was out, which only could be fixed by changing Win10 registry by adding "IRPStackSize" to it with a value.

They are internal sata drives.

Is there a link to an example of what this should look like?

https://wiki.mrmc.tv/index.php?title=SMB

it does not show libsmb2 but it should be under libdsm. Make sure libdsm is unchecked.

Internal SMB shared drives works out of the box in 3.6.2 without Win10 registry fix. Just follow Davilla's advise and link to the Wiki to use the right settings.

Hey guys.

So just to give you Guys an update.

It seems I have found the issue.

The machine PC I was using was a Mecer from Mustek which shipped out with windows 8.1, when I received it I then used the windows upgrade platform and upgraded to Win 10. And that is where I suspect the issue was. Last night I thought, lets just try and re install windows 10, I got a disk and insert it and it could not run due to some error.

Searching online it reverted to registry files not installed due to the online installation process of the first win10 version.

I then formatted and re installed win10, shared my drive and PC, manually added it to mrmc and bam, it connected and now I can access my content.

So I bought the payed version last night and its working like a charm so far.

My DSL is down at the moment so scanning my content is a mission. I assume that my addedd sources will appear on the home page as soon as my internet is back online?
