I also have the same issue where I'm playing music and the Apple screensaver will come on and the music will stop. If I hit play on the remote it starts back up with the screensaver still playing (but I have that problem with the screensaver still playing after I hit play like that too, sooooooo)....

The last line is the only line that's added from when I started playing, to when the screensaver kicked on (after 2 minutes) then I waited a little bit and hit play.

yes, I think you've got the levels stuff fixed! In my testing, either using full range or limited range, I get the same behavior from ff and VTB and no gray bars from cropped video. :)

When MrMC is fully closed, it opens to (in Amber) the golden bubbles screen. I don't know what that screen is. It stays there until you press menu. That seems odd. Opening from when MrMC is running on the background looks correct, it opens to the MrMC splash then moves to Settings. Would be great to have it opened to tv or movies instead, but I think that was a Plex issue???

Happy to report the black bars are good. I also played some music, the screensaver came on, and the music didn't pause.

Mine just has the profile selection come up so different people can choose their profile and in turn the Plex account it pulls from.

Davilla, I've looked more at the behavior of the current firetv release with regard to levels. Maybe this will help you as you prepare it.

Surface gives no choice of brightness/contrast

Mediacodec allows brightness/contrast adjustment but it doesn't actually bring to visibility more levels. Something broken there?

ff brightness/contrast adjustment works as it should. For me that means I adjust contrast down and highlight levels to 255 are revealed.
