Found that setting in video, and it was off. But I also found that the number of channels was at 2.0 so I changes that to my 5.1 setup, and all seems to be working right at the moment.

there was a setting on my TV that fixed it, something to do with overscan or something ... can check later, but look around on your TV.

we have not changed anything there and there is nothing for us to change anyway. We feed AppleTV 1920x1080 picture and appleTV deals with different resolutions according to its settings and what TV can take.
Ok, I'll have a look around. I haven't changed the settings on the TV for a year or so though, and neither MrMC (prior to a few version ago), my Openelec Kodi install (on a Zotac box), or the sideloaded Kodi version on the ATV had this issue, so it does seem a fairly recent development only tied to MrMC.

Missing bold on 'Dolby TrueHD (7.1) w/ Passthrough (played as PCM 7.1)' ?

I don't see how those errors in surround sound mapping would have the effect that others have brought up in other threads. :?

One person did mention going from ATV to the TV and then TV to the reciever with TOSLINK, so that could identify different issues. All my tests were with the ATV directly to the receiver.

There are two, separate issues with channel mapping.

1) pcm 7.1 output, as noted above.
2) dts -> dd transcode, as noted in the other thread.

1) is an easy fix.
2) is more complicated but should also be fixable.
