I take back what I said earlier, not everything is good with Ariana.

I did test PVR playback of a recording. I can't figure out how to get playback controls (rw, pause, stop, ff) to come up.

Such controls *do* come up with the settings OSD when clicking the touchpad during live tv playback.
Don’t you have scrubbing available when playing recordings? OSD controls are coming up with live tv, as you can’t use scrubbing there.
No, clicking the touchpad playing back a PVR recording doesn't pause for scrubbing. It just brings up the settings OSD up top.

The PVRs never used the new scrubbing interface. They always used what's now called "siri expert" since 3.5.

The latest TestFlight build can play UHD BluRay rips quite perfectly, except that the "BluRay Menu" option doesn't work ...
Correct, "BluRay Menu" means use java to run the native bluray meaning. This setting will be hidden in the next push as we have not figured out how to get a basic java vm integrated... yet :)
Thanks for the info ...

I think there's a bug when using Plex through UPnP: when I select a Recently Added option, videos still get sorted chronologically and not, as one would expect, by the date they were added to the library.
Not sure we have any control over that, UPnP is rather primitive compared with the native Plex client or Plex extension. I would suggest not using UPnP :)
I thought the same since it never worked when I used it in the past but just today I tried accessing the same library with VLC and it sorted everything correctly!
As for using UPnP, unfortunately I have no other choice but to use it since I can't get Plex to work in MrMC any other way anymore (see my post history).

Did you give it a try in newer TestFlight versions?

HomeMenu -> MediaSources -> Sign-in Plex

I'm seeing a problem using the DVBLink live TV on Shield (don't know if on other platforms yet).

If I test timeshift after first starting live tv it works. But, after some time of watching live tv it no longer works.

The logs have a ton of

13:56:16.650 T:194732057840 DEBUG: CFileCache::Open - opening <dvblink/timeshift> using cache
13:56:16.650 T:194732057840 DEBUG: CurlFile::Open(0x2d542c7c00) http://192.168.2.10:52354/dvblink/times ... et_stats=1

I have to back out of the live tv session and begin again because the progress circle just stalls and nothing happens after some time.

I gave it a try, still can't connect reliably.

I'm not planning on changing my ISP or network configuration, so UPnP will have to suffice for now. I just want to get my videos sorted by recently added. Can it just disregard any sorting options in MrMC since I'm already adding my library as a sorted directory and display it as is? I assume that's what VLC is doing.

I also have a long-standing annoyance with the UI: why does the selection focus still circle back to the first item when it reaches the end of a menu or a list? It makes it almost impossible to use the swipe gesture with small menus! I can't believe more people don't complain about this.

For a series of menus, it will wrap. There's no way to know that it's on the 'last' or "first' menu item. The only thing we know, is on item, go up. If on top item, up means wrap around to bottom. The issue is tvOS focus engine will keep issuing up's but we just don't know we wrapped. If they move too fast, swipe slower or less. Or tap up/down.

For real lists, It's called list wrap. In a real list, we know which item we are on, and the direction. Core enforces the wrap behavior. The behavior is as follow; if you are on the last item, and swipe down, it wraps to the first. If you are not on the last item, and swipe down, it will stop at the last item. Same for going up. This behavior does not exist in native tvOS lists. Learn to love it :) it's the only way to quickly get from bottom to top of the list.

Have you tried the TVMosaic PVR in MrMC with your DVBLink settings as backcheck ?

It seems to me that TVMosaic PVR is more stable concerning time shift in MrMC and noticed too that my DVBLink PVR is more sensitive to errors when using time shift. But this problem exist already for quite some time in MrMC, but couldn’t reproduce what triggers it. Most of the time it works and out of the blue it doesn’t work, resulting in minutes lost of the broadcast, when you are watching delayed and jumping FW/BW with the time shift, because it crashes the play of the live/time shifted channel.

@Devs
Does the setting of how many seconds you can jump FW/BW have something to do with it or does the PVR compensate and goes to nearest point in time of the requested time in live tv buffer of DVBLink ? Also when in time shift and jumping FW/BW, the OSD is not consistent concerning the times shown on left side of OSD.

@cosmoxl
Does restart of DVBlink server change the behavior of the problems with time shift in MrMC ?

PVR feedback Ariana Apple TV 4K

1) Can we have more readability for the program names with channel list on screen while playing Live TV ?
Now we have grey colored letters on a grey opacity panel for the program names of the not playing channels. Please use a color for the letters that stand out more, so that whatever lighting condition is shown on screen for the current playing channel, the text is readable and stands out.

2) Can we have more channels on screen for the channel list while playing Live TV ?
Now we have 6 channels at once while in Opacity there is 11. This 6 channels is still a template from the old days of Kodi.

A very very user friendly and functional UI I just came across, is from the current iPlayTV app on the Apple TV.
This has now the best on screen display in my opinion concerning on screen channel list and program info with that channel list. Please consider to take a look there to get some ideas, because it's that good that I'm considering to also transfer all my PVR channels to it because of that easy to use UI, but also great functional UI, to make watching TV easier for my wife and kid.

This is an example in iPlayTV of just swiping to the right which brings up the channel list during play:
Image
It contains 2 columns, first one is all channels info and second one is current playing channel program info with all programs shown for that playing channel. It even has an option when scrolling through that list to pop up a live video preview of the channel in a thumbnail next to those two columns, when you are scrolling through that list.

Swiping to the Left brings up a column on right side of screen with Now & next items in time sequence order, which is also very usefull to have.

Swiping to right or left during play is a functionality that is still unused during play of Live TV in MrMC, so Devs, please consider this functionality.

If needed, can move this topic to Skin request section.
This will have to wait for the next version. Please, move it to skin section so it doesn’t get lost.
