iOS testing 3.0.0

Post by cosmoxl »

I'm testing on an ipad mini with retina display. I use the MrMC skin which isn't default.

Which hardware decoder is recommended? My choices are AVF and VTB.

I'm seeing the same problem as tvOS with dvblink live tv - that going back and forth in the time shift buffer pretty much doesn't work. (on the shield and firetv it works very well) I've reported this before in tvOS testing and your attempt to fix it was to change the way audio was decoded or something.

Playback of DVD folder works

Browsing NFS doesn't pull up my mybooklive like it used to. I can manually enter the IP address and it works. log here for the attempt to browse NFS. http://pastebin.com/XbV4QAUQ

Not playing back the hddvd test file properly which I think you got via dropbox. The file is VC1 and plex was transcoding the video but direct streaming the audio which is EAC3. It seems the audio is the problem for when I set transcoding audio to AAC it played fine.

The problem with playback of EAC3 is that it has a fast stutter and the video trods along very slowly. The log above should cover problematic playback, then good playback as plex transcoded EAC3 to AAC.

VTB is more use proven. Use it.

Increase the network time out for SMB/NFS timeouts. Try that.

there is a timeout setting in SMB settings. But where is the setting for NFS timeout? In "internet access" the timeout setting applies to libcurl (http/ftp)

I think the curl one also applies to NFS, have to check the codebase.

Testing on iPad Pro 9.7:
- hevc playback is good; better than tvOS (A9x vs. A8)
- TrueHD plays without problems
- NFS shares don't show in the browser; assigning an IP works (same issue on tvOS)
- NFS playback fine
- UI is really out-dated and unsuitable for a small screen (it's more for a TV)

Summary: player is excellent; UI is below average; overall good work

Forgot Plex:
- under Setting/Services, I can't see which server MrMC is connected to, nor there is a list to choose one of my PMS associated with my Plex account
- metadata fetch from Plex is correct; MrMC metadata scrubbing misses some files and it doesn't help to refresh the library
