The other audio change is ac3/eac3 audio is now handle via the native darwin audio decoder. For PCM, that is.

Pass-through means a audio is sync master, you can't drop or dupe audio frames. The thought is that you can only one sync master. So display as sync wins over passthrough.

need debug enabled so I can see more details.

EDIT: If you have use display as sync enabled, turn it off. It will override pass-through.

In my tests, on firetv set-top (not stick), during playback the CPU will idle down the clock and even turn off one or two of the four CPUs.
