Re: Testing MrMC 3.5.1

ah I should have thought about that first. No, sharing the same test pattern through itunes>computers shows levels up to 253. Interesting. I thought that 0-15/236-255 (and 10/12-bit equivalents) were always clipped on the Apple TV 4K. Will have to check again. It's an interesting thing. The apple t...

Re: Testing MrMC 3.5.1

Not sure what to say about levels after this update. Where I used to see up to 253 with AVF as decoder, now I see only to 234. But, some might say that's correct now. Do these match that of using the "Computers" app on Apple TV 4K (through iTunes homesharing) ? ah I should have thought about that f...

But, some might say that's correct now. tvOS hardware decoders ignoring interlaced seems to work well. I've got some files that have a small amount of content as interlaced ...

Re: Missing Shadow Detail, nothing below 2% black

Found it :) As it seems that other 3rd party apps have similar behavior, this looks like a bug on the tvOS but there does seem to be a workaround. Now at least matches '- using the "Computers" app on Apple TV 4K (through iTunes homesharing): 72 and up are visible. This is 03 black-level-v3.m4v with...

Re: HDR mrmc all gray blacks are all over bright

I don't think the shade of the GUI is the important thing here. I thought you were talking about how video playback looks.

Re: ffwd & rewind controls have changed!

that sounds like an apple problem, updating an app while it's in use. This is in the FireTV subforum & I'm running a 1st gen FireTV. I hope Apple's influence hasn't extended that far! :D oops! I've been replying to others in the apple forum. :D OK, sounds like an Amazon problem! After update I'd ex...

Re: ffwd & rewind controls have changed!

Just to help with any investigation: 1) I'm not in TestFlight, 2) the update was very harsh. I was in MrMC and it crashed. As soon as I restarted I was in the new version (I got the message about running for the first time). It was right after that that behaviour changed. that sounds like an apple ...

Changed defaults for new users. This should not have effected existing setups so on the list to investigate.
Yes, when in testflight the new defaults did alter current settings. I thought this was expected so I didn't mention it.

Did this fix not make it to 3.5 ?
Yes, 3.5 has fixes for HDR material.

Make sure you're using AVFoundation as decoder for HDR material.

Re: After Update Stuttering and Slow

It sounds like your TV is just being told to switch refresh rate to match content. If so, the behavior you're seeing is normal. Stuttering isn't.
